The December online exhibit at the Old Stone House Museum brings special attention to the story and carvings of Burleigh Woodard who lived in Glover, VT.  Woodard was known in the area for his beautiful team of work horses, in which he also took great pride. When poor health required that Woodard retire from working with his team, he took to carving his horses as a way to acknowledge his passion for them.

Today a portion of the carvings can be viewed at the Old Stone House Museum. The humble yet detailed carvings depict teams of horses and their drivers completing a variety of farm and logging related tasks.  Of special note are carvings of a one horse power saw and a horse-drawn snow roller.  The museum collection also contains the real life versions of both these pieces of equipment.
