Mar 13 "Candlelight"
Before the electric light, many types of lighting were used: lamps, lanterns, rush lights and candles to name a few. Look at some of these artifacts and calculate how many candles your family might need to make. Explore the process of candle-making from start to finish; tallow rendering, wick preparation and dipping. Take home several tapers.
Apr 10 "Shuttle & Loom"
All householders were familiar with the basic methods of cloth making, both woven and knitted, in the pre-Industrial period. Come learn to wind a warp, a shuttle and how to manage plain weaving. Some looms will be set up and ready to weave.
